- Refreshment stop
WasserWegeWinkel connects seven Westphalian towns and communities to create a unique experience. Whether historic old towns, overgrown ruins, imposing churches, floodplain landscapes or nature reserves. This stage connects the towns of Lippstadt and Soest.
Lippstadt
Soest
Impressive landscapes, historical cultural monuments and exciting nature experiences - the WasserWegeWinkel discovery route offers all of this. It becomes really relaxing if you combine it as a premium route of the Hellwegbörde cycling region in the Sauerland with a journey to and from the destination by public transport. From the starting point at the train station in Soest, you cycle along the historic Altstadt with its picturesque alleyways and pretty half-timbered houses out into the picturesque Hellwegbörde.
The first stop on the tour is the spa town of Bad Sassendorf, where the motto "better living" is written in capital letters. Here, a wide variety of activities can be ideally combined with enjoyment and relaxation. Via Lippetal with opportunities for interesting detours, for example to the Wasserschloß Hovestadt with its restored baroque garden or the pilgrimage basilica of St. Ida Herzfeld with its burial crypt in the oldest place of pilgrimage in Westfalen and Wadersloh in the district of Warendorf, the route leads through the picturesque Lippeaue to Lippstadt, the largest city in the district of Soest with a good 68,000 inhabitants.
Sights such as St. Mary's Church, the historic town hall and the impressive town palace tell of tradition, consistency and almost 1,000 years of history before reaching the end of the approximately 59-kilometre tour at the train station.
